Disney Magic & More in Shanghai

Indulge in family fun at Shanghai Disneyland® Park and experience the city’s rich history with a full-day tour, complete with a river cruise.

About Your Trip

The magic of Disney® comes alive on this DreamTrip to Shanghai, China. But first, you’ll get a fascinating insight into historically significant landmarks during an outing to the 1,700-year-old town of Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town that is considered Shanghai’s Venice. See well-preserved ancient buildings, rock bridges, alleyways and canals before you transfer back to Shanghai. Back in the city, you’ll stroll through the Chenghuang Temple market area that teems with vendor stalls, tea shops and street food sellers. Then, get another perspective of Shanghai from Huangpu River, where you’ll take in the nighttime scenery from aboard a cruise ship.

The following day, it’s off to Shanghai Disneyland® Park, which blends elements of Chinese culture with classic Disneyland enchantment. Use your 1-day pass to discover your favorite parts of the park! Highlights include Treasure Cove and Tomorrowland, and characters Mickey Mouse, Snow White and Winnie the Pooh. Some attractions and rides are found only in this theme park, such as the Chinese zodiac-inspired garden, where the animals are represented by Disney characters, and the TRON Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster with motorcycle-style seats. Live performances, parades, shopping venues and a picnic area will keep everyone in the family entertained.

Spend your free time delving into the artistic and historic side of the city, such as the China Art Museum, also called the China Art Palace. See the continent’s largest art museums viewing impressive works of classic and modern art created by renowned artists. Round out your sightseeing day with a visit to The Bund, a popular waterfront that offers scenic views of skyscrapers and the river.

What we love:
• Zhujiajiao is nicknamed “Pearl Stream,” thanks to a shining pearl that’s part of the decoration on the town’s prominent stone arch bridge.
• The Chenghuang Temple, or “City God Temple,” is a Taoist temple and comprises several palaces, halls and gardens.
• Shanghai Disneyland Park, which opened June 16, 2016, is Disney’s second-largest theme park and home to the tallest Disney castle, the Enchanted Storybook Castle.

Destination

The Pearl of the Orient. Paris of the East. The City Upon the Sea. Shanghai has been known by many names since it was founded approximately 1,300 years ago. Today, it is one of the world’s most populous urban centers and a favorite travel destination among jetsetters from around the globe. It’s home to Shanghai Tower — the world’s second-tallest tower at 2,073 feet (632 meters) — but also boasts impressive Art Deco buildings from its prolific growth in the 1920s and 1930s, and plenty of historic architecture including Jing’an Temple.

Other signs of Shanghai’s transformation include areas such as the Bund, the city’s former “Wall Street,” which is now the site of exclusive boutiques, hotels and restaurants. Parks also embody the idea of old and new living in harmony throughout the city, including Yuyuan Garden, which epitomizes classic Suzhou-style landscaping, while Century Park is the city’s answer to New York’s Central Park.
